Springfield 45/70 Trapdoor Cavalry Carbine: Obviously stored poorly in a damp area which caused severe pitting on all the metal surfaces… but also 100% genuine and complete just as it left the Springfield Arsenal and issued to United States Cavalry.

UNITED STATES DRAGOON SOLDIER’S FORAGE CAP. Ultra appealing regulation large crown US Regulation blue wool forage cap in VG++ condition. This one is the first I recall owning with eagle-D side buttons indicating use by United States Dragoons. The interior of the cap clearly shows that the crown once sported brass unit insignia including a crossed saber device (Dragoons and Cavalry), as well as a numeral and letter. Sadly someone removed the brass long ago. Complete with full lining, excellent sweat band, chin strap w/ buckle, side buttons, visor etc… There are a few repaired small moth holes, very nicely executed by a previous collector. Bummer’s caps like this have always been scarce and desirable. This one is a dandy. $2,650.00
